Tennessee's State Tree

The tulip poplar is Tennessee's state tree. When we first moved here, the only way we could see the blooms was with binoculars, but the blooms are larger now and not just at the tops of tall trees.  I don't know why because it's not like we fertilize them.
They are kind of hard to see unless you're looking for them because the colors don't stand out from a distance.  But they are nice.
