Amazon Prime

I've liked Amazon Prime for years because I like free two day shipping. But I am seriously tired of free video crap downloaded without any prompting from me. I don't want them picking out what I download.

Probably

I like to wash my hair early enough in the evening that it can air dry. It was raining and lightning outside so I asked if Larry thought it would be OK to go ahead and shower and wash my hair. He'd just gotten out of the shower so I thought he might have something to say about the length of time between the lightning and thunder. Instead, he said, "Probably." I waited until the thunderstorm part was over.

Lots of People

Volunteering I see a lot of people I don't know. Sometimes I see people who recognize me and tell me who they are. Today I saw somebody I knew and found out she'd had cancer. It had been a couple of years since I'd seen her so it was a shock. She looked OK and I didn't ask for details. The thing is, if somebody is in the hospital, it seems rude and personal to quiz them. Although many total strangers tell me lots. But they do it without me asking.

New Shelves

The maintenance guys hung new shelves in the gift shop so we have more display space. We got the shelves and brackets from Lowes. We have an amazing amount of nice stuff in there.

Hail

We had misty rain, then pouring rain, then hail, and then more rain. Larry was out and about during the worst of it. He said it sounded like rocks were hitting the truck.

Creeping Phlox

I. Sometimes plant stuff hoping it will be winter hardy and beautiful. I have planted some stuff that turns out to be invasive. It took a while for me to decide that invasive is bad. But this phlox is bright and lovely without taking over other stuff I like. But it looks better when the rain hasn't beat on it for several days.

Strawberries

Larry grilled and made a steamed cabbage, potato, and carrot dish, I made Cole slaw and trimmed fresh strawberries. It was a nice spring meal.

First Grilling Tomorrow

Tomorrow Larry is going to grill for the first time this year. I'm looking forward to the ribs and maybe a few burgers. We may have scattered showers, but I don't think it will matter.

Grape Hyacinths

Grape Hyacinths naturalize readily here. I planted some in flower beds, but they pop up in the yard all by themselves. I wanted them to multiply into a thick border like they did in Germany. But that isn't what happened. It would be nice if I got what I wanted, but it's almost as good to like what I get.

Easy Day

It was a beautiful day. I didn't have to go anywhere so I dusted with Old English for scratches and wax for glumpy stuff. We burned some trimmed branches and sensitive paper. Then the house lost the clean furniture smell so I changed clothes and sprayed stuff with orange scented air freshener.

Volunteers

Today I was listening to a mom telling about a volunteer program that provides scholarship money for kids who volunteer a certain number of hours. The amount of the scholarship money is determined by the number of hours volunteered. She said it is difficult to find somebody willing to allow a fourteen year old girl to volunteer. I suggested she have her daughter check with an elementary principal. Teachers can always use volunteers! She liked the idea. I hope it works out.

Catching Up

I missed volunteering last week because of my car. When I got there today I had to restock the candy and chips, reorder what was needed, and make out the deposit slip for the bank. I had too many quarters for the stationary envelope I'd been using. When I went to the bank, I got a pouch from them so I could handle change. While I was at the bank, it started to rain so hard I could barely see. When I got home, it stopped. I guess it was a driving rain.

When?

I can't cbhange the sheets if the bed is occupied. I don't want to vacuum when he's asleep. I finally decided to vacuum when he's watching TV. Anyway, I ran errands, did a few household chores and wondered why the spring temperatures jump around so much. A woman I was talking to today said she doesn't put away her warm clothes until May....we haven't had blackberry winter yet! I'd heard of Indian Summer before but blackberry winter was new to mw when we moved to Tennessee.

Hungarian Gulosh Day 2

I made the gulosh with an entire roast so I knew it wasn't going to be just one meal. But it was pretty bland. Today I made more egg noodles and added olive oil, diced Cayenne pepper and more garlic. NOW the gulosh is really good.

New Author - Ilona Andrews

I reread and relisten to a lot of books but a new find is always good. This author lives in Texas but was born in the Soviet Union. I've listened to Clean Sweep, the first book in the Innkeeper Series. I'm not wild about the narrator, but the story was interesting enough for me to get the other two books. I guess it is Urban Fantasy, but it isn't set in a city. It is set in modern times with magic. Fun!

Really Good Saturday

We had lunch at Pebble Isle. For dinner I made Hungarian Gulash with egg noodles. Then I made a Margarita. Is that a good day or what?

Long Day

Larry had a kidney biopsy today. It was a long day with the prep, the procedure, and staying for hours to make sure he was all right. I didn't have much to do except to be there and drive him home. So I spent a lot of time looking at Irish recipes and emailing them to myself to print if we ever got home.

The Best Days

Larry was looking at the digital picture frame. I'd put over 3,000 pictures on it spanning our life together. Larry said the pictures of our kids when they were young showed the best years. He said we were poor as church mice, but they were the best.

Car Is Fixed

This evening the guy came over and replaced the do dad that holds the brake fluid. It wasn't just the plastic container. The metal thing connected to it was part of it. And new brake fluid had to happen. Anyway, the brake light is out. Tomorrow I can go somewhere.

Car Problem

I didn't volunteer today nor will ii tomorrow. My brake light came on so I came back home. Maybe it will be fixed sometime tomorrow.

Meat and Something Green

I guess this isn't on many healthy meals lists, but the carbs are from Brussels sprouts so I'm ok with it.

Time Change

We've got most of the clocks, watches, and gadgets set with the correct time. Now if I can just get my body to adjust!

Snowy Day

When I woke up this morning, the ground was clear. While I was talking on the phone, snow started to stick and accumulate. Then it all went away. Now it is covered again. I don't know what it will be when I get up in the morning.

Birthday Pleasure

Yesterday was my birthday so I had emails and phone calls. It's the best part of my birthday! So today we ate out and I had a Margarita. Happy birthday again😀

Bless Your Heart!

This is a garden flag. It's funny to me. I don't want to fly it but sometimes I think everyone driving by needs it.

Happy Anniversary to Us!

Flowers, fried shrimp, fried oysters, oven fried potatoes, fried okra, and green salad made our anniversary pretty nice. Yea, us!

Clothes, Too

Last week we got clothes in the gift shop. I couldn't imagine buying clothes in a gift shop, but people are.

Anniversary

Tomorrow is our anniversary. I took vases to the florist today and will pick up the flower arrangements tomorrow. I got shrimp and Larry got a pint of oysters from the freezer. We'll have a special day. ..all the plans are in place.

Terms of Enlistment

This is a new one for me. I'm on chapter eleven and Marko. Kloos has done a good job on the story. I'm not impressed with the narrator but it's not bad enough for me to give up on audible and switch to written.
It's set in a future where a young man has chosen the military as a way out off the dole and into a life with real food and a chance at a better life...if he survives.

Open Again!

Today was the first day The Grey Heron Grill opened this season. We ate inside but still enjoyed it.

Today's Plan

I put all my decorated eggs in my Easter centerpiece. So I plan to do a few more so I'll have some for the gift shop.

First Friday in March

The first Friday in March is when the ag department gives out free trees. Last year we got redbuds. This year we got one hybrid chestnut and three pine Christmas trees. We brought them inside because it is supposed to drop to 28 degrees tonight.

Running Errands

A couple of old laptops were on my list to give to the guy who works on computers. They are gone now. I dug out vases and talked to the florist about flowers for next week. Then I went to the bakery for cinnamon rolls. These errands don't annoy me like some do.

Listing

This flagpole has been repaired once because it sheered off due to wind wear. I don't know if it will repair or require replacement.

Wind Damage

People have mentioned losing shingles in our recent windstorm. As far as I can tell, our damage seems to be our metal flagpole iis pointing at ten o'clock instead of twelve. I don't have a clue how to change it back.

Easter Decorations

I don't have a lot of Easter decorations, but I got them out today.

Windy

Our garbage can blew down the hill during the night. It is a large one that can be picked up and dumped mechanically.
