Pizza

I was walking down the hall at the nursing home where Larry has gone for rehabilitation when I heard a pitiful voice say she wanted pizza. It’s healthy, according to her and she likes it. When I got home I ordered a pizza. I’d better get it while I can!

To Do List

my To Do list does not include this rain. I guess I’ll have to sit around with coff and a book. I’m reading Shards of a Broken Crown by Raymond E. Feist.

Waiting

Waiting for the pest control guy. Waiting for somebody to notify me that Larry is bing discharged from the hospital and transferred to the nursing home for a few weeks of rehabilitation coupled with his dialysis treatments. He was supposed to move yesterday. I looked at his room. It is nice. I don’t think he’s going to be happy with it because it isn’t home. But he needs rehabilitation before he comes home. So while I wait, I’m pruning roses.

Tornado Alert

Another raucous alarm, this time for a tornado.  Take coveršŸ˜±

Alert

My phone started making a raucous sound and a text message saying flash flood warning until ten fifteen appeared on the page I was reading. Wow!

I Can

I can is not the same as I will. And I will doesn’t mean you can. Show me is an important next part.

Lots of Rain

It was starting to dry out enough to walk somewhere besides the driveway, but  now we have more rain. It is supposed to continue for a couple of days more, but all I’m doing outside is driving and a little walking so I guess it’s okay.

Another Specialist

Now he has a cardiologist. His heart rate isn’t regular.  But he wasn’t on oxygen today and his breathing wasn’t labored. The nurse said his confusion isn’t unusual in the hospital. She called it hospital psychosis and would probably clear up at home on familiar surroundings without people changing all the time. I sincerely hope she’s right!

Got Rid Of

Today I got rid of my flip phone service and my hotspot wiry. I found my blog on this phone but don’t know if I’ll ever find it again.

Old and New

I've got my audible books on my phone now, and my kindle books. I'm learning how to text. I haven't got everything on it, but it's lighter than lugging a laptop or even a kindle around, plus I can call people and get calls. Nice!

New Phone

A new phone is pretty exciting. It does lots of tricks, but I may have to wait until I have better coverage before I download anything else.

Roller Coaster

When somebody is in the hospital, life is a roller coaster. Yesterday we were in the low part, today was the top. I hope tomorrow doesn't plunge us to the depths again. It's tough when you are the one in the hospital, but it's no picnic when you are the loved one watching the sick one. It's hard if you're watching from a distance, too.

Anything I Can Do?

A friend asked if there was anything she could do while we're having this problem. I asked her if she wanted cookies and cake I bought for Larry and he's not here. I thought about throwing the sweets away and decided she might come get them. She did. I'll bet when she offered to help, she wasn't thinking cookies and cake:)

Good News!

It is possible that this extreme low blood sugar Larry is experiencing is due to a medication he started a couple of days prior to the first crash. That is good news since stopping the medication and giving it a chance to clear out of his system will put him back on track. That will be excellent news for both of us! I'm certainly feeling better about it.

Be Careful!

If you fall and break something, somebody has to help you. I'm trying to convince Larry that if he breaks something, I don't think I'll be able to take care of him. A hip or shoulder, or whatever, would make this difficult time worse. He was flippant and said, "That's what 911 is for." I told him I knew how to dial 911 and had done it. He looked taken aback and said he'd try to be careful. He dropped a coke four times this afternoon. I told him to sit down and I'd bring it to him. He objected and I said I knew he wanted to do it himself, but I have to clean up the mess!

Walker

It seems to me that if somebody has fallen several times and has been issued a walker, the walker should be with the person, not used as a coatrack. It isn't heavy and could be carried around like a briefcase. Then it would be handy when needed. But what do I know?

Catheter

Catheter training was insufficient. I broke one trying to empty it. Getting another one was difficult because nobody seemed to carry them. I finally found one. One place in a nearby town had them but the cost was more than double what Amazon charges. Also, the place that had them wouldn't sell them without a prescription. That's about dumb if Amazon would sell them.  Anyway, now I have an extra.

Pantry

I've been considering one of these can stackers for a while and finally ordered one. I had to put it together. The directions didn't make sense to me, but I put it together as well as I could guess. I had pieces left over that are supposed to go at junctures. So far it hasn't fallen apart.

Fried Fish

I wish I had an antacid as a side with that meal. I hardly ever have a bad feeling after eating, but sometimes I do. If it were regular, I'd carry Tums as my dad did. So I walked up and down the hall hoping it will settle.

Low Blood Sugar

Low blood sugar can make a person display symptoms of drunkenness or stroke. Lack of coordination and slurred speech are startling when they occur for the first time.
