Flowers
A woman stopped today to ask what kind of flowers I have in my flower boxes on the porch:) Nice. Larry had noticed that people slowed down going past our house. I had noticed it, too, but thought their vehicles had trouble with the hill. He said their heads are turned and they are looking at the flowers.

old stuff
We put a flag in the front yard. The breeze blows it and it reminds me of clothes hanging on a line.
I was driving down the road and an old red truck flashed its lights at me. That used to mean police were ahead. But I didn't see any. I don't know why he flashed his lights.

garden
We planted three kinds of tomatoes...regular ones to slice, roma tomatoes to can, and cherry tomatoes to snack on. The regular ones didn't do anything. The romas haven't done anything so far, but still might. The cherry tomatoes, however, have made enough for us and others, with more still sitting there. Leigh said to walk around WalMart putting them in people's cars who didn't lock up. She said that is what people do with zucchini. I hope she was kidding. But anyway, I fried little slices of green cherry tomatoes today. They looked kind of like fried okra. Larry said they were better than normal-sized fried green tomatoes. The brown pile is jambalaya made with brown rice, and spicy sausage instead of ham.

I'm canning green beans from the garden. A home ec teacher warned me that people die from home-canned green beans. My question is, "What's taking so long?"

Not Racist
I stopped at Hardee's for a low-carb bowl breakfast. My husband got one, too. They both came to 6 something. The young, black guy behind the counter said the amount, then he said, "You smoke the same brand I do...wait, let me give you the senior discount."

Health
I read somewhere, maybe Heinlein, if you want to live a long time, pick old grandparents.
Well, if you want to have a better chance of not getting melanoma, pick black parents. White people have a 1/50 chance of getting it; black people have a 1/1000 chance.

Old People
I used to see old couples walking hand in hand and I'd think, "Oh, that's so sweet. I hope we feel like that when we're that age."
Now we're closer to that age and I wonder which of them is trying to keep the other from wandering off.
