My Meal Plan
Today's plan was the sausage and stuffing recipe I found on Pepperidge farm's web site. But Larry beat me to the stove and made split pea soup. I had never eaten it until I discovered erbsen soup in Germany. I didn't even know the English word for it. So I'm not complaining! We also had a hard roll which I hope to not enjoy again.
Coffee Pot
Yesterday Larry made our after noon pot of decaf. A little later he went back to find coffee all over the floor and all the lights off on the coffee maker. But I could hear it burning away so I decided coffee in cups would be in our future...for that day. I started looking online for a replacement but decided to use the backup pot if necessary. Today all the lights were back on and it did fine.

Pepperidge Farm Recipe
Today I bought the stuff to make skillet sausage and stuffing. The recipe called for a couple of kinds of Italian sausages but I just bought a lot of a sausage that I'm sure I like. Tomorrow I'll put my adapted recipe together.
Greenhouse
Today I started moving plants into the greenhouse. It's early, but I don't want to wait until the last minute. I've done it that way and it's a pain. So moving a few at a time is better.
Recipes
After I made my lovely casseroles, I had pepperidge farm stuffing mix left. I went to their website to hopefully find a recipe that would use the rest of the stuffing mix. I found a promising recipe and then got sucked in found a couple more likely looking recipes...one being banana panini! So I have my shopping list ready, clothes on, breakfast consumed, bedclothes in the washer...ready to run errands😀

Bad Choice
I've been choosing a book to listen to while trying to drop off to sleep. Last night I chose one of the Vorkosigan books by Lois Bujold. It turned out to be a bad choice as I was soon shaking with laughter, trying to be still and quiet so as not to disturb my husband. It also isn't easy to drop off to sleep while giggling.
Food Saving
This is a recipe we got when Leigh took home ec a long time ago. It is a favorite still. If something is a lot of trouble to make, either because of specific shopping and/ or time, I like to make part to eat immediately and part for the freezer. I keep disposable aluminium pans that stack nicely in the freezer. This sheet cake pan lined with foil makes it easy to handle them without the stuff spilling and making a mess. Currently I have dressing, eggplant Parmesan, and one chicken, broccoli, and cheese casserole in my food savings account...labeled and dated on each. I thought at first I could just remember, but we had unexpected combinations using that method.
Angelwing Begonias
It's time to start taking cuttings to save over the winter. The top picture shows the plugs that I use for my cuttings. The bottom picture shows the baskets and flower boxes I have across the front porch.

Fall
Fall is officially here so I've started planning what I'll do when it feels like fall. I'm willing to plan when it's hot. But cleaning the greenhouse when it's hot isn't going to happen.

Seeds
I have collected a good many seeds from that tall white flower. I've stopped collecting impatiens seeds because they come back where I want them and spread nicely. I'm not sure about these though so I collected all these from the one plant I had this year.

Discovery Park
Discovery Park has some really good displays. This coming weekend a bunch of Lewis and Clark reenacters are supposed to be there. We might go again.
Peppers
Hot and mild peppers for the freezer have built up to the point where I am willing to put on gloves and prepare them for later use.

Patti's
This is a restaurant about two hours from here. The food was good and the grounds are full of various things to help pass the time while waiting for seating. It is near water and would have been perfect to me if the restaurant had a view of the water.

Working for Peanuts
We've planted peanuts before but this year we got some. We still have more to dig. It wasn't too hard. Larry dug the plant and handed it to me. I put it in the back of the gator and picked them off.

2 inch pork chop.
We went to Patti's in KY and I tried a 2" pork chop. We saw the place on television. I'd been there once before. The pork chop was tasty and amazingly tender. The loaded potato was wonderful. They baked bread in flower pots. It was worth the drive.

Tough Volunteer
One of our volunteers called yesterday to say she would be out for a while because she had broken her pelvis. Two clerks helped her into her car and she drove about forty miles to the emergency room in her hometown. I commented that she was tough. She said it was what she had to do. I said she could have called 911 and requested an ambulance take her to the nearest hospital. She said she didn't want to go to that hospital.

Friend
Our friend Dana has come for a visit! Larry wanted to give her the tour . I'm glad she's his friend, too.

Angel Biscuits
We used to love angel biscuits. We finally got tired of them and haven't had them for a long time. Larry found a recipe for them in a magazine and passed it to me so I tried it. I tossed the rest of the mixture because it wasn't at all what I expected. Today I made a batch using the old recipe. I'll try cooking some tomorrow. It's a good recipe, partly because it holds in the refrigerator for days so it's easy to have them for any meal.
Butterfly
I bought plants that are supposed to encourage butterflies and bees. They do. I'm not wild about the success of my plan. Larry complains about the caterpillars eating leaves and I don't like them on me! This one was on my hand until I reached for my camera. Even then it didn't go far.

New Hair
I got a hair cut today. There was a big pile on the floor when she finished. I really liked how much easier it was to get the tangles put.

My Car
A guy pulled in to my driveway right behind me. I got out of my car and walked over to see what he wanted. He asked if I wanted to sell my car. I didn't but understood why he wanted one. He said he already had one and wanted to get one for his wife. Yea, Honda Civic!
Great Service
Today I went to Pizza Hut for the lunch buffet. The waitress told me that the salad buffet wasn't in operation. Something was wrong underneath and there was water on the floor. Somebody was trying to fix it.
I said I was very sorry to hear that as I really liked the Caesar salad. But I went to the pizza buffet and found they had pepperoni with the thin and crispy crust which is my favorite. By the time I got back to the table, the waitress said the manager told her to fix me a caesar salad. So she fixed one and brought it out.
I was very pleased with the service, as well as the food.

Shopping
After volunteering, I went home and found a message on the phone telling me Larry was going to be gone on jury duty all day. So I decided I'd shop. Shopping isn't my favorite thing but at least it would be over.
So back in the car with my list and on to town. It took forever, mainly because the machine I got for self check out kept telling me I had extra stuff on the bag area. Finally the person came over and showed me how to fix that, what to do if it claimed I hadn't bagged it when I had, and how to do fruits and vegetables that weren't bagged. I'm tempted to go back tomorrow and see if I remember:)
Finally I got home and got the stuff put away.
So tomorrow I don't have to shop:)
Idiot Drivers
Driving in on a back road this morning, a car roared past me. He passed on a hill ignoring the double yellow line. I was fussing about idiot drivers when I glanced in the rear view mirror and saw a big spider on my headrest. I grabbed it and almost left the road. Yes, the idiots were out this morning!

Power
Today was beautiful but our power was out for about four hours. After a couple of hours Larry called and they said it was out in our whole area but they were looking for the problem.

Hornworm
Hornworms are destructive to several plants, not just tomatoes. Today I found a small one and two covered with wasp eggs.
Weeding
This is what I plan to work on if I ever finish my coffee. Those weeds are about hip high. Their roots aren't deep. The worst part is that I know bugs will try to chow down on me even with bug spray. Just grass touching me makes me itch. Thinking about grass touching me makes me itch. Why do I do this to myself?

Nasturtiums
It has taken a long time for the nasturtiums to start blooming. I wanted them in the flower boxes because they are fragrant and trial. They actually do have a mild fragrance. The trailing habit is problematic at this stage. They are growing up so far.

Flags
We went to the marina for lunch today. The weather was perfect... Sunny, low 80's, and breezy. Lunch was good, too.😁

Pretty Good Day
We went to Jackson today. I needed a cover for my new Kindle. I didn't want to buy one without seeing it because I was worried about the opening for the camera. They only had one style, so that was an easy choice. I'd been carrying it around in a dish towel...classy.
Then we had the unlimited soup, salad, and bread sticks at Olive Garden and I got the Italian donuts with chocolate dipping sauce to go to have with our afternoon coffee.
Larry stopped at a toy store and put something on lay away. While he was in there, I went next door to the bakery. I didn't get anything because I'd already gotten donuts, but the smell was glorious.
The humidity was low, the temperature in the low 80's so I fertilized my flower boxes and baskets in comfort and weeded a little. I hope I can remember not to start another flower bed. Weeding is always on my list of things to do.
