A Bed of Lettuce
The stew I made was all right in a bowl. But no bread, no noodles, no rice! So I piled a bowl full of shredded lettuce and put the stew on top of that. The thing is, the first few bites were fine but then the heat of the stew wilted the lettuce and it wasn't crunchy any more. Maybe I'll have a side of shredded lettuce tomorrow.

Maybe try cabbage? Steam it separately so it's sweet but the flavor doesn't overwhelm the stew?
