The ambrosia recipe I grew up with was just oranges carefully cut so no membrane was included, sugar, and shredded coconut.
Our recipe is the same except we use splenda instead of sugar and add cherries. It is a part of Christmas food that takes a while to prepare because of the chore of putting just the orange pulp in it.
Some people put raisins, apples, and nuts in theirs. We don't.
