Really Good Day

I had my hair trimmed today and asked for the phone number of the person who made the yarn necklaces I had seen displayed there. She gave me the number and I called as soon as I got home. She wasn't home but her husband said I'd called and she called me back!
Not only was she willing to tell me about where to get the yarn, she gave me some for the hospital gift shop for the cost of the yarn.
She is a very interesting, creative person who may be willing to volunteer at the hospital and bring her sister with her!
She took me around and showed me the interesting craft hobbies she does. I could see a way to tailor several of them for the gift shop. I hope she decides to volunteer:) It was really nice to talk to her and see her stuff.
The pile in the picture is four necklaces I'll take to the gift shop Tuesday:)

You Can Glue It

I received an order for the gift shop. Some of the magnets fell off the hummingbirds and butterflies. I called the company and the lady said I could glue them back on. I agreed that I could but pointed out I hadn't intentionally ordered a do-it-yourself kit.
She laughed, agreed, and deducted the cost of the defective items from my bill. She said I can glue the magnets back on and sell them at a reduced price. That works.

Dress Code

Today I found out volunteers are supposed to observe the same dress code as the employees. I can dig out my school clothes. But I really like my Teva hiking sandals. I can wear closed shoes, but it seems to me that unless I show up in my housecoat and slippers, they should just say, "Thanks for coming!"
What do I know? I've already had one person tell me she is willing to not wear jeans, but if they say tennis shoes are out, she's gone.

Volunteering Today

The ice machine was down today so I had to put on a bonnet and push my little carts into the kitchen area to get ice for the patients. There was only one patient in isolation so one box of disposable gowns was enough. One county newspaper was delivered so I handed those out to the patients. Then one of the departments gave us some papers to make into packets to use when swing bed patients are admitted.
It's nice when there's something to do when I'm there.

Moved Today

We went to volunteer at the hospital today and found they had already started moving the contents. We worked really hard (there were four of us there today) and got a lot of the stuff put away. The room they moved us to is smaller than the one we were in. The room isn't completely arranged, but we got our new keys, the phone moved into the new room, and many of the items put away. We were all really tired.

Moving Day Tomorrow

I found out today that the gift shop is moving to a new location in the hospital tomorrow.  Hospital employees will move us, but we'll need to arrange things. I've tried to unpack rooms others packed and moved before. Sometimes they are good at it. I think those people are actual movers. I'm not sure who is moving us, but I'm pretty sure the hospital doesn't employ movers. So it should be interesting. We'll have three volunteers, though, so that's good.

Today's Plan

I'm going to take the Sashay yarn scarf that I started last night with me to the hospital for slow times during volunteering. I'm going to take the finished one, too.  If anybody wants to buy either one, the hospital cash box will benefit.
After lunch, I am going to WalMart to look for round needles.  I've already packed the finished scarf, the partially-finished scarf, the new yarn (red), and two possible cowl patterns.  One of the cowl patterns I selected and printed out is easy and one is one notch up from easy. I also want to get a second skein of yarn so I can learn to use two colors.
So I want to follow a simple pattern, use round needles, and two colors.  That's very ambitious of me:)
