Larry decided to take a basket of peas from the garden to a neighbor. They are from Michigan so I said they probably wouldn't think they were food, but could feed them to the horses. Larry agreed and we took them over. She looked at them and asked, "What are these?" (I knew it.)
Purple-hull crowders.
The next time we saw them, she said she shelled them and started to cook them. Then she yelled for the little boys to come and look. They were green when she started to cook them, but turned brown, like magic. They all enjoyed them very much and decided to plant some next year. The little boys are three and four years old and being fostered there. They have horses, chickens, dogs and cats. The little boys have been there over a year now. And they liked peas:)
