Snow Ice Cream

This morning we woke up to snow.  It isn't enough for snow ice cream and I don't think it will be because even though it is coming down nicely, it isn't piling up on the ground...the ground is too warm, I guess.
But it is lovely coming down and flocking all the plants.  It's kind of a wet snow so it sticks to trees, bushes, everything except the ground.
But when the snow is deep and fluffy, I like to scrape the top off into a bowl, add half and half, vanilla, and Splenda. It is a low-carb treat for my husband and me.
So when the weather people are predicting snow, make sure you have half and half.  If you aren't watching your weight or diabetic, sugar and Eagle Brand Milk or Pet Milk (in a can) are really good.  It is also easier to make sure you have the milk when it's canned.
Pretty, but not enough for snow ice cream.
The metal roof on the gray building is green when it isn't covered with a dusting of snow.

Food

We had a turkey for Thanksgiving.  I put the left-overs in the freezer.  Yesterday I made gumbo with some of the turkey and broth and this morning I made a form of noodle soup with the rest.  The container with the yellow stuff, that's egg salad.  The brown and white stuff is sugar-free chocolate fudge pudding with  sweetened sour cream.  So I have food in the refrigerator that is on my diet.  I like to eat regularly, but I'm not a fan of cooking regularly.  So a variety of things in the refrigerator that are "on my diet" means I can eat well and do other things for several days.  The containers are uniform in size so they stack nicely in the cabinet and refrigerator:)
The only thing I still plan to do today is make a slaw.  I'm not wild about all the chopping, but it will be worth it.  The lovely cabbage is from Larry's garden.  I started to post a picture of it, but decided a cabbage is a cabbage.  He has grown several green ones and also red ones.  It has been so wet in the garden it is difficult to pick one.

Numb Toes

Larry told the doctor he has numb toes and asked if it had to do with diabetes or pinched nerve.  He referred Larry to a podiatrist.  Today he went for that appointment.  The doctor said he has what is called "victory toes."  The toes spread apart in a "v" shape.  Larry said it had been a problem off and on for about 20 years.  But more of the toes had started feeling numb lately.  He said he could give him a shot and in about three weeks he would be fine.  He said it is sort of like a stone bruise at first but scar tissue builds up and starts forcing the toes apart.  Without the shot, it would continue to get worse.  He said planning tennis could have caused it as he would have been on his toes a lot.
We're really glad it was that instead of nerve damage due to diabetes!  And it is such an easy cure...one shot.
