I'm just about finished with the Dorothy Dunnett series...again. This time it is an audio format. Most of the quotations are French or Latin. I took Latin in high school a long time ago and French in college almost as long ago.
I like trying to figure out what they are saying based on the little I remember. I think what I come up with is similar to the Toyota commercial where the young man encounters a snake. The native he talks to says it isn't poisonous. All he gets out of that is poisonous. Then he deduces that he is immune to venom. My spotty translations of the foreign quotations are probably about that close.
