Nora Roberts is an author I like. When she writes under the J.D. Robb pseudonym, I like those books, too. The main character is a New York City detective in the future.
Both main characters have awful childhoods that they deal with as adults as they get on with their lives.
The books are detective mysteries as well as love stories. The peripheral characters range from likable to awful.
