Dorothy Dunnett is one of my favorite authors. I'm going back through the House of Nicolo series. The first one is Nicolo Rising. It is mainly set in Bruge. We have visited Bruge several times and I enjoy the book for the characters and plot, but also the setting.
The second book is Spring of the Ram. It mentions people and places in Florence. The setting changes but it remains interesting.
